Over-diagnosis of asthma in children?
'Half a million children with asthma may not actually have condition' according to a headline in Telegraph.
The article is based on a research study conducted in the Netherlands and refers back to the NICE draft guideline published for consultation purposes last year.
Publication of the NICE guideline is pending field testing following concerns raised by PCRS-UK and others regarding the feasibility of implementing the proposed guidance.
The PCRS-UK 'Guide to the diagnosis and management of asthma' was updated at the end of 2015, taking account of the thinking in the NICE draft guideline and provides pragmatic and definitive guidance for primary care on the diagnosis of asthma in children.
