Our latest webinar focuses on the topic of accountability and responsibility with guest speaker Beverley Bostock. We will explore where the responsibility lies for maintaining optimal health and how to draw a line between what you do as a clinician and what people living with respiratory conditions need to take responsibility for. 

We'll also discuss responsibility for delegation of clinical care, based on new guidance for doctors. How does that affect nurses, pharmacists and the extended clinical team? Finally, what about clinical responsibility versus guidelines? Where do you stand if local formularies or national guidance hasn't caught up with the evidence?  Where does your accountability begin and end? With her medicolegal, ethical, clinical and practical hats on, Bev will discuss all of this in conversation with PCRS Executive Chair, Katherine Hickman.

  • Katherine Hickman

    photo of Katherine HickmanKatherine qualified from Leeds University in 2000. She originally did a Medicine Rotation acquiring her MRCP before settling into General Practice. She is a GP Partner in Bradford. Katherine is the Respiratory Lead for West Yorkshire ICB, Primary Care Clinical Lead for the National Respiratory Audit Programme (NRAP), and Chair of PCRS. Outside of work she enjoys cooking, baking, yoga, and outdoor swimming and has recently rediscovered her love for singing and joined a choir.

  • Beverley Bostock

    photo of Beverley BostockBev is a hands-on nurse practitioner in Gloucestershire, Editor in Chief of Practice Nurse Journal, and sits on the executive board of the Association of Respiratory Nurses and chairs the Respiratory diseases committee. She has an MSc in Respiratory Care and an MA in Medical Ethics and Law and is interested in how ethical, evidence-based care can be implemented in challenging times. Bev is an Asthma Champion for NHS England and sat on the Severe Asthma and FeNO Implementation Groups. She was also on the NICE Asthma Quality Standards group and the National Review of Asthma Deaths. She writes regularly for the nursing press on a range of subjects. Bev has been a Queen’s Nurse since 2015. This is a title awarded to individual nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice.
