Nazir Hussain

photo of Nazir HussainIn his current position as a Specialist Respiratory Pharmacist at Dudley Integrated Health & Care NHS Trust, Nazir leads one of the largest primary care pharmacy teams in the country in the provision of clinical pharmacy services to respiratory patients.

Accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in 2011 as a Pharmacist with a Special Interest in Respiratory Care (PhwSI), Nazir was among the first pharmacists in primary care to achieve this recognition and was part of the early cohort of pharmacist independent prescribers.

Nazir's passion for learning and innovation has led him to be involved in various ground-breaking projects, such as the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network FENO project, West Birmingham pharmacist-led diagnostic hub, and the identification of suspected severe asthma (SPECTRA).

He actively participates in the Black Country Respiratory Subgroup and the Early and Accurate Diagnosis Task Group for Children and Young People within the West Midlands ICS.

Nazir's dedication and commitment have been acknowledged through awards, including the 2023 PCPA General Practice Pharmacist of the Year, in recognition of his establishment of an innovative specialist pharmacist respiratory clinic in Dudley for the diagnosis and management of asthma and COPD.
