Paul Stephenson

photo of Paul StephensonDr Paul Stephenson is a retired GP. He has been a member of PCRS since 1993 and was awarded Life Membership in 2014. After a degree in Physiology from St Catherine’s College, Oxford, he did his clinical training at the John Radcliffe Hospital and his general practice training in Windsor. He became a GP principal in Haverhill, Suffolk in 1991, and in 2015 relocated to the beautiful coastal town of Looe in Cornwall where he worked as a Salaried GP until retiring from clinical practice in July 2019. For many years he was on the PCRS Executive and Conference Organising Committee, and from 2011 – 2016 he was Joint Editor-in-Chief of the society’s journal npj Primary Care Respiratory Medicine. He has a longstanding interest in respiratory disease outcomes and was the Lead GP for the Eastern Region Confidential Enquiry into Asthma Deaths for 10 years. He was also an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow in the Allergy and Respiratory Research Group at the University of Edinburgh. Outside interests include music, gardening, and fell walking.
